More soon on the big man and his first birthday but for now, a little backtracking. The weekend before last Emma was invited to a birthday party at JumpZone. Seriously, whoever conceived of this idea is a genius. For those who don't know, it is basically a room filled with 7 or so large inflatables for jumping, sliding, and basically making sure you have tired, sweaty, thirsty kids when you leave. Emma got off to a running start and was even more excited when Libby arrived. Keeping up with the two of them was a chore in and of itself and seriously you could not turn your back for one minute. Emma, of course, had basically no fear of anything although she did have a minor panic attack after a short climb on one of the inflatables. I pulled her off but she was back there five minutes later and had no problem. There was also one point that I thought I was going to climb in since it didn't seem like Emma or Libby were ever coming out. The last 10 minutes or so before cake were basically spent at the water fountain taking turns with other kids when prompted to step away so somebody else could drink. It was definitely a great party!

Kansas City Recap
We had a great trip to Kansas City last weekend to see Uncle Dale, Aunt Michelle, Thomas and Garret. Both Emma and Josh did great on the drive there and back and Emma even took a nap during both rides. Can I get a hip, hip hooray? Thomas and Garret were prepared with some crafts to do with Emma. After we got in Friday night, they set about the task of decorating some sun visors for Emma, Josh and Garret as well as a little purse for Emma. On Saturday morning, we headed out to the Deanna Rose Farmstead where the kiddos got to see lots of different animals and feed the chickens, ducks, goats, and fish. There was a minor incident in which Emma thought that the goats wanted to attack her so she didn't really get into giving them a bottle. Josh, however, enjoyed feeding them a bottle after it was directed away from his own mouth. It is definitely a great place to take the kids and I have to say that Emma's cousins are really good sports as they bit the bullet and were flowers with Emma in one of the photos below. Saturday afternoon, Brad, Dale and Thomas headed out to take some senior pictures of Thomas in the sweltering heat while the rest of us headed to the park for a little while. On Sunday, it was church, lunch and then packing up and getting back on the road. We had a great time and can't wait to see everybody again; hopefully soon.

Conversation
Here is a quick recap of the conversation I had with Emma on the way home from Target the other night that made me go "Hmmm". Note that this conversation stems from the fact that there has been a lot of talk at home and in Bible Class about the fact that Jesus is always with us.
Emma: Is Jesus going home with us?
Me: Yes, Jesus is always with us.
Emma (brief synopsis): Jesus is with us when we're sick or have boo-boos. Jesus is with us when there is thunder. Jesus is with us when we go to bed. (You get the picture)
Fast forward to the part that made me go "Hmmm".
Emma: When we bite, Jesus wants us to say sorry.
Me: Yes but we shouldn't bite. Have you bitten anyone?
Emma: No
Me: Did you get bitten?
Emma: No
Not sure what spurred this last bit of the conversation and Emma is not a biter so I would have been surprised if she had answered yes but it was just funny to me that we started with being sick or boo-boos and ended with Jesus wanting us to say sorry for biting.
We're off to Kansas City (Kansas City here we come!) tomorrow to see Uncle Dale, Aunt Michelle, Thomas and Garret. Hopefully it will be a pleasant, uneventful drive with content children and slightly cooler weather on the other end. Good luck to Kristi (Gram) in her triathlon this weekend!
