Emma and the Horse

A couple of weeks ago we went downtown for dinner with some friends. As we were leaving there was a horse drawn carriage stopped along the road. We went over and Emma reached out eagerly to touch the horse much to our surprise. She was really gentle with it and not scared at all by its size. Since we didn't have the camera with us, we headed back down the following week with camera in tow. Once again, Emma showed no fear of the horse and patted it on the nose. It was all over, however, when the horse suddenly moved its head. We certainly couldn't blame her for being scared since it was so much bigger. We did manage to get a couple of shots of her petting the horse.

Mount Magazine

As I mentioned previously, Brad and I got away for a couple of days to celebrate our anniversary this year. We headed to Mount Magazine, which is the highest point in Arkansas. We spent our days hiking although truth be told, the hikes were not as scenic as we expected. They also claimed to have waterfalls, which Brad loves to photograph. However, these turned out to be nothing more than little trickles of water for the most part. Up at Mount Magazine, they have a lodge and then 13 cabins. The cabins come with fully equipped kitchens and hot tubs on the balcony not to mention the spectacular view. We had a great time although it was great to get home to Emma.

Wordless Wednesday - With Grandma & Grandpa

10 Months Old a Day Late

Yet another month has flown by. Emma has changed so much in the past month. In terms of motor skills, she has now mastered crawling. We haven't even seen the army crawl in about two weeks. She also pulls up, cruises, and walks behind her stroller with ease. Before too long, she'll be off on her own. Over the past couple of weeks there has been an explosion of new consonants including da, ga, ca, and the rare ma. Yesterday she even said her first word twice, "ducky!". Emma also learned to put the rings back on her stack-a-rings as you can see from the pictures below. Emma continues to become more interactive and initiates peek-a-boo. She loves to give her stuffed animals hugs and kisses and continues to be a happy little girl.

Wordless Wednesday Kinda - An Oldie But Goodie

Seems like just yesterday we were bringing this little bundle home. Brad and I are off to Mount Magazine today for two nights while Grandma and Grandpa watch Emma. We are going to miss our little Emma but we know she'll be in good hands.
