Cinnamon and Sugar

Josh and Emma have "adopted" the rabbits in our back yard.  We've got a mom that they named Cinnamon and a baby they named Sugar.  They are the perfect pets since we don't have to feed or clean up after them.

Baseball and Dance

Junior Deputy came up with a plan to salvage some kind of baseball season.  Upon entry to the park, everybody in the car has to have their temperature checked.  Adults have to wear masks.  Kids do not have to wear them while playing ball but need to be spaced out while waiting to bat.  The bleachers are reserved for the players and adults need to maintain social distance during the games.  Josh has had two practices so far and games start tomorrow.  We'll see how it goes but I know Josh is excited just to get out on the field.

The same week that Josh started back to baseball, Shuffles reopened to finish out the spring dance season.  They have different entrances depending on the studio you are in.  Dancers are spaced out six feet and have to wear masks and gloves for class.  They are also ending each class 15 minutes early to give time to disinfect before the next class.

Things may be different at the baseball park and the dance studio but it gives the kids something to look forward to and just getting to see some friends in person has done them a world of good.

Brad's Birthday

Sadly this birthday wasn't being celebrated in Rome again.  Even more sad, it was during the middle of the week and Brad worked all day.  We did celebrate him that night with dinner of his choice, Eat My Catfish and heath cake.  Yum!  Happy Birthday Brad!

Swimming

We weren't sure about joining the pool when they decided to open but when Josh asked about swimming, I knew it was time.  We have to remain social distanced at the pool and they are limited to the number of people at a given time.  Thankfully Emma and Josh have always been more interested in playing with each other than other kids so social distancing hasn't been an issue.  They were able to take the swim test so now have the option to go down to the pool during the week while Brad and I are working.

COVID-19 May

We finished up school.  The State moved to Phase 1 of reopening, which meant that restaurants could have some diners and other venues could open up more to small groups.  We continued to hang out at home and avoid major stores and restaurants other than to pick up take out.  Church remained online for now.  Sadly, Pastor Walter celebrated his last Sunday at Grace Lutheran on May 4th.  We hope that he'll be able to come back and have one more service once the Church reopens.  Towards the end of May, there was talk about baseball and dance coming back in some way in June.

COVID Field Day

A couple of weeks before the end of school, Emma said that she wanted to throw Josh a surprise Field Day since he wasn't going to get to have one at school.  She planned out a whole morning of fun.  Since she had school the entire day on the last day and then the weather wasn't cooperative on Saturday, we finally got Field Day in on Sunday, May 24th.  It took a bit to figure out the best method for the slip-n-slide but they finally got it.  Everybody had a great time and Josh was so appreciative of everything Emma did to give him a special day.

COVID Cut 2

Josh wasn't as pleased with haircut number two.  It was shorter than he envisioned but he got used to it and really, it looked good.  He really missed his swoop in the front.

Last Day of School

The last day of school was May 22nd.  It was a mixed blessing.  On the one hand, we were all over E-Learning but on the other hand, it gave them something to do every day.

Blue Angels - May 14th

The Blue Angels flew over Little Rock in support of the front line workers.  Josh initially wasn't interested in going to see them with Brad but he was glad he did after the fact.  He even wanted the Blue Angels as his first topic for the research papers that he planned to do over the summer.

The sad face at a baseball field with no baseball going on.

Bamboo Josh

Working Hard

Fort Josh was quite an undertaking.  Josh was extra motivated to finish up his school work so he could get out and chop down some bamboo for his fort.
