COVID-19 came into our lives in March and has disrupted life as we know it. At the beginning of 2020, there were starting to be reports of a major pandemic in China. Of course, we didn't pay it too much attention here in the States and figured we were safe. Even though reports of cases started to surface in the U.S. in late February/early March, we still took it for granted. Brad was planning to go to a conference in New Orleans on March 11th and I was going to a conference in California on March 15th. Given how cases of COVID-19 were rising, the FDA cancelled all travel on March 9th. On March 11th, the first case of COVID-19 was diagnosed in Little Rock. The following day, there were a couple more cases and schools decided to close there doors until after spring break or so we thought. The FDA also put all telework eligible employees on telework. We ate out at a restaurant for the last time on March 13th. Shortly after, restaurants would close their doors to diners with takeout as the only option. Again, at this point, we really thought we'd return to normal after a couple of weeks. Over Spring Break, cases in the state and the country continued to rise so plans were made at school to move forward with E-Learning.
We adjusted to a new normal in March, teleworking and school. Our Friday nights out turned into picking up from one of our favorite local restaurants. We also started to get used to wearing masks out in public, not that we went anywhere really other than my weekly trip to the grocery store and to pick up dinner on Friday nights. We did enjoy eating on the deck since we weren't running the kids here, there and everywhere and although he was forced, we all enjoyed some family walks.
