Closing Day

It is closing day and I have a cashiers check in my hot little hand and ready to go. Hopefully we won't get carpal tunnel signing our lives away. I guess this means we should really get serious about starting to pack. Any volunteers?

14 Months

Emma is 14 months old and has a mouthful of teeth these days. We found two more last night, which brings the grand total up to 13. She is starting to run these days and loves to jump even if she can't actually get her body up off the ground (see video below). Emma is such a big help to mommy and daddy these days. She loves to recycle and will stand at the door with a plastic bottle until you take her out to throw it in the bin. She also helps put clothes into the dryer and throws away trash. She definitely loves being with the big kids (and thinks she is one) at daycare and breaks out of the nursery at every opportunity. She loves to read and is getting pretty good at working her puzzle. It is just so much fun watching her personality emerge.

We're Still Here

We've been MIA for the past week or so. Thankfully Emma has been feeling much like her old self since last weekend. I am finally over what she passed on to me and Brad is on his way there. Brad's mom and dad were so helpful looking after Emma last week so I didn't have to miss almost a full week of work. Of course, we didn't manage to get any photos. It was nice enough last Sunday and Emma was feeling good enough that we actually got out to the park for a few minutes so she could get in a little time in the swing and on the slide. This week she has gotten to play with the big kids a couple of times at daycare and just loved it. She was none too happy yesterday when it was time to go back to her room. Things are still moving along on the house and as far as I know, we should be on schedule to close next Friday. The first order of business once we take possession will be to find the perfect shade of pink for Emma's room! We hope that everybody has a great weekend.

Sick Girl

Emma was sent home Monday afternoon with a fever of 102.6 degrees. She was also pretty congested and had a cough to round everything out. Yesterday morning I got a call from daycare that there were two confirmed cases of RSV in Emma's room. Given her symptoms, we thought a trip to the doctor was in order. Emma did test positive for RSV but her lungs are clear and we are just praying that they stay that way. However, she seems to be developing an ear infection too, which was probably the cause of her fever. Poor little girl just doesn't feel well and wants to be held much of the time, which is so not normal for Emma. We hope that she gets feeling good again soon. Here she is getting into a little trouble before she started feeling bad.

Just one of those Weeks

Emma certainly had a go of it two days this week at daycare. On Tuesday, she tripped over a ball and skinned up her nose pretty good. She looks like Rudolph now a few weeks too late. They said she also donked her head twice in the same place. Then on Wednesday, our little adventurer was trying to climb up on the toy storage bin (sounds like this was not a first attempt) and took a tumble somehow and split her lip. It doesn't phase her for long though. I guess having Grace as a middle name doesn't necessarily mean you will be graceful.

We're On the Move...

It looks like we will be moving into our own house sometime in February. Yes, we are finally going to become responsible home owners. Brad is not so in love with the exterior, in fact, he thinks it is hideous but it is nothing that siding cannot take care of at some point. The house was built in 1971 and had one owner other than the people who are selling it now and they bought it just to upgrade an resell. The kitchen and bathrooms upstairs have been totally redone. Also, the downstairs, which was previously just framed out has been finished so we have plenty of room for Emma to run around and for anybody who wants to come visit. Our two biggest problems will be keeping Emma off the stairs (gotta love those baby gates)and keeping her out of the wine cabinet. She loved opening and closing it both times we looked at the place. Here are a few photos that Brad took the other day.

Feeding Bailey

Emma had a great time over Christmas chasing, feeding, and otherwise harassing Bailey (Aunt Lesa's dog). The first afternoon that we were there, she was hand feeding Bailey from her bowl. Poor Bailey could hardly get one bite of kibble swallowed before Emma was forcing more on her. Yes, Emma did have to try some kibble for herself. She spit out the first one and then went ahead and tried a second, which she also spit out. Here is a little clip of her feeding Bailey.
