Trunk or Treat

Our next Halloween event prior to Halloween was Trunk or Treat at church.  The Martins joined us and Emma couldn't have been more thrilled since that meant Avery.  Ross wanted to be Jesus for Halloween but the poor boy kept getting confused for Obi Wan Kenobi.  Ms. Scarlett somehow made it to adulthood without being aware of the Star Wars movie and had to google Obi Wan to see who he was.  The kids got lots and lots of candy, had some s'mores, climbed hay mountain, went for a hay ride and played games.  A fun time all around!

Emma's Last Soccer Game

Emma's last soccer game was the Saturday prior to Halloween.  The league sent out messages that they kids could come in costume.  Our team collectively decided to do crazy hair and capes.  With the help of Ana's mom, Heather, we made some quick capes with the letter "B" on the back since they are Coach Bailey's girls.  They looked pretty cute and all played like super heroes in their game.

Coach Bailey was scary!

Boo at the Zoo

Pumpkin patch day was a big one since we rounded out the evening with Boo at the Zoo.  It was definitely cooler than the previous year but somehow, the kids are never bothered by the cold.  We went with the Kolbs and Morrisons again and were also joined by Mr. Don and Ross.  Unfortunately, the pumpkin patch did a number on Mrs. Scarlett and she was down for the count with a migraine.  We met at Chick Fil-A for a quick bite to eat before heading to the zoo.  I will say that they did a great job with the lights this year and the hay ride was much more fun than the haunted train ride.

Josh's Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

Two weeks after Emma's field trip, the Juniors and Seniors at Grace visited the same pumpkin patch.  While the kids had fun, the parents did not enjoy the day as much since the woman guiding us between the different activities was a little Type A.  Once they finally let us in since we had to wait for our entire group, we headed to the pig races.  The order of events was pretty much the same as with Emma's group.

Sofia the First Pumpkin

The Lower School kids were given the opportunity to paint a pumpkin related to their favorite storybook character.  Emma loves Sofia the First so she painted her pumpkin to look like Sofia.  They had to provide a description of their character as well and all the pumpkins were displayed through Halloween.

Fall Basketball 2013

Josh started basketball on October 19th.  The first "game" was only 10 minutes and more of a kick-off for the season.  Not only is Josh playing with buddy Ross this year but Ross's Dad, Mr. Don, got roped into coaching the team.  I have seen so much improvement in Josh from last year.  There is definitely less twirling and playing with his shorts.  In fact, he has his head in the game most of the time.  The boy has also gained some strength and just last week, made two baskets during practice.  Since basketball started, it has pretty much been all basketball, all the time at home, at school; you get the picture!

Emma's Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

The four kindergarten classes headed to Motley's Pumpkin Patch the morning of October 14th.  The kids got to ride the school bus out to the pumpkin patch, which is always exciting for them and the parents met them out there.  We started out the morning with a snack and pig races.  Emma was pulling for the green pig, Jimmy Dean, since he was Ms. Fortenberry's favorite.

After the pig races, it was time for the petting zoo. Emma wasn't too sure about feeding the goats but after I showed her that they just tickled your hand, she did great!

This was followed by some play time on the hay pyramid/slides and our hay ride where we were surprised by some fake spiders hanging in the trees.

After the hay ride, the kids got to pick their pumpkins, play in the hay maze and end the morning with a ride on the cow train.

Emma had early dismissal that day due to fall break and we got to bring her friend Juliana home with us to play for the afternoon.  Such a fun day!
