Rome - June 9th

We arrived bright and early and exhausted but excited on June 9th.  After making it through customs and collecting our bags, it took us a while to figure out where to meet our driver.  Things may have been a little easier had the adults been thinking clearly.  Fortunately we did get it figured out and off we went to head into Rome.  At the hotel, our room wasn't ready but we were able to get a quick breakfast since it was still being served.  We also did a quick change and then headed out to start exploring the city.  We learned quickly and it never got better but I am not good with maps; don't know how many times we ended up taking the long way around.  Everybody was a little tired so the heat was a little more taxing, everybody was a little more thirsty, etc.  Towards mid-afternoon, I suggested jumping on the city bus since we had a two day pass.  That was all it took for Josh and he immediately passed out.  After riding a bit, we headed back to the hotel to check into our room and get showers.  We all felt a little better after that and were able to rally.  After an early dinner and Josh's first quattro foramaggi pizza (his first of many), it was back to the hotel where we all fell asleep by about 7:30 pm.
